Mellen Shea Memorial Scholarship

The Mellen Shea Memorial Scholarship (MSM) fund was developed to provide financial assistance to Alaska Native or American Indian students aspiring to become teachers, and who are enrolled in a post-secondary undergraduate program for an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education.

The Mellen Shea Memorial Scholarship awards are considered and based upon availability of funds, timely submission of completed application, and the quality and sincerity of the written essay.  Students are required to submit a CDIB/CIB from BIA and proof of Tribal Enrollment. Please see application for required documents needed to complete the application. Students can receive up to $1,000 maximum per academic year. Two students are awarded each year.
Deadline:  May 1, 5 p.m., AST.
